The music program at First United Methodist Church exists primarily to assist the congregation in the worship of God. Through worship we become more aware of God and His holiness. Our minds are filled with the truth of God's Word and we are in awe of His majesty and Power. Through worship we gain a vision of God which results in our obedience to Him. A result of worship is that we grow in Christ and are inspired to serve God each day in every opportunity that comes our way. 

We use a variety of music in our worship at First Methodist - great hymns of our faith as well as contemporary choruses. We call this a blended style of worship. We believe that music brings us into a sense of the presence of God. We believe that music gives expression to our spiritual experiences. For many of us singing is as close to worship as breathing is to life itself.  

Spiritual education is also a focus of our music program. Often it is through music that we learn about the nature and character of God, the saving grace of Jesus, and the empowering direction of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
